Installation Guide
- Measure and plan. Determine the number of elbows needed and the angles required to route the downspout from the gutter outlet to the discharge point.
- Crimp the elbow ends. Use a downspout crimper to reduce one end of each elbow so it slides into the next section. Needle-nose pliers work for minor adjustments.
- Connect to gutter outlet. Slide the crimped end into the gutter outlet fitting and press firmly until seated. Ensure a snug fit to prevent leaks.
- Secure with screws. Drive two sheet metal screws through each joint to lock the elbow in place and prevent separation during heavy rain.
- Test water flow. Run water through the system or wait for rain to confirm proper drainage and no leaks at the joints.
Work at height requires proper ladder safety and fall protection. OSHA requires fall protection for work 6 or more feet above a lower level.

Customer Reviews
★★★★★ Marcus T.Installed these on a job with a covered porch — the elbow cleared the overhang perfectly. Aluminum quality is solid and the corrugated ribs make these noticeably stiffer than what I usually get from box stores.
★★★★★ Diane R.Ordered the Black variant and it matched our existing downspouts exactly. Fast shipping to Washington, arrived well-packaged. Will order again for upcoming projects.
★★★★★ Kevin L.Used the Musket Brown on a cedar-sided home and the color blends in well. Good price for contractor-grade aluminum. GutterAll is my go-to supplier for gutter components.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose corrugated over smooth downspout elbows?
Corrugated construction provides greater crush resistance than smooth elbows. The ribbed design maintains structural integrity through weather extremes and reduces noise during heavy rain — important for long-term performance in Northwest climates.
What tools are needed to install these elbows?
Use a professional downspout crimper tool to adjust elbow ends for a secure fit. Needle-nose pliers work for smaller adjustments. Typical installation takes 10 to 15 minutes per elbow.
How many elbows do I need per downspout?
Most installations use two to three elbows per downspout: one at the gutter outlet, one for a directional change mid-run, and one at the bottom to direct water away from the foundation. Complex rooflines may require additional elbows.
Will aluminum elbows rust over time?
No. Aluminum does not rust. The 0.019-inch aluminum with painted finish provides decades of corrosion-free performance, making it well-suited for the Pacific Northwest’s wet climate.
Can these be shipped, or is local pickup required?
Both options are available. GutterAll ships to all 50 states with orders processing within 1–2 business days. Local pickup is available at our Damascus, OR warehouse Monday–Friday 7AM–4PM PT, and local delivery can be arranged for the Portland metro area.
Are these compatible with standard 3-inch round gutter systems?
Yes. These elbows fit all standard 3-inch round corrugated gutter and downspout systems. They connect directly without adapters and are available in White, Black, and Musket Brown to match existing installations.
