Why Geocel 2320 Outperforms Silicone and Latex

Standard silicone caulk requires a completely dry, clean surface and a minimum 24-hour rain-free window before application. Latex caulk shrinks and cracks in freeze-thaw cycles. Geocel 2320 Tripolymer eliminates both limitations:

Property Geocel 2320 Silicone Latex
Wet-surface application Yes No No
Freeze-thaw resistance Excellent Good Poor
UV resistance Excellent Good Fair
Paintable Yes No Yes
No-primer adhesion Yes Sometimes Sometimes

Common Applications

  • Gutter seams, end caps, and mitered corners on aluminum and steel gutters
  • Gutter-to-fascia and gutter-to-downspout junction seals
  • Emergency leak repair during active rainfall
  • Re-sealing older sectional gutters before full replacement
  • Flashing and step flashing seals on sloped roofs
  • Downspout outlet and elbow connection sealing
  • Copper and specialty gutter systems where silicone adhesion is unreliable

Application Instructions

  1. Surface preparation: Remove loose dirt, debris, and flaking sealant. Wet surfaces are acceptable — no need to dry. Remove standing water from inside the gutter if possible.
  2. Cut nozzle: Cut cartridge tip at a 45° angle to the desired bead size (typically 3/16" to 1/4" for gutter seams).
  3. Apply bead: Apply a continuous bead along the seam, joint, or crack. For seams, apply from both inside and outside the gutter for maximum protection.
  4. Tool the bead: Smooth with a wet finger or caulk tool within the first few minutes. Wetting the tool prevents sticking.
  5. Cure: Allow 1 hour for tack-free set. Avoid disturbing the seal for 24 hours. Full cure is achieved in 24–48 hours.
  6. Paint (optional): Apply latex or oil-based paint over the cured sealant as desired.

Safety Notice

Use appropriate personal protective equipment when working at height. Follow ladder safety guidelines and manufacturer application instructions. Geocel 2320 contains volatile organic compounds — ensure adequate ventilation when applying in enclosed areas. See product SDS for full safety data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Geocel 2320 be applied to wet gutters?

Yes. Geocel 2320 is specifically formulated to bond to wet or dry surfaces. Unlike silicone caulk that requires a completely dry surface, 2320 can be applied during rainfall for emergency leak repair.

What surfaces does Geocel 2320 bond to?

Geocel 2320 bonds without primers to aluminum, galvanized steel, copper, vinyl, wood, concrete, and most painted surfaces — compatible with all standard gutter materials.

How long does Geocel 2320 take to cure?

Tack-free in approximately 1 hour at 70°F/50% humidity. Full cure takes 24 to 48 hours. Cold or humid conditions may extend cure time slightly.

Is Geocel 2320 paintable?

Yes. After full cure (24–48 hours), Geocel 2320 can be top-coated with latex or oil-based paint. The aluminum gray color blends naturally with most gutter systems.

What is the difference between single, 3 pack, and box of 24?

The single is one 10.3 oz cartridge ideal for spot repairs. The 3 pack suits medium projects. The box of 24 is the contractor case offering the lowest per-unit cost for large jobs or ongoing maintenance contracts.

Does GutterAll offer contractor pricing on bulk orders?

5/5

Applied this during a rainstorm to fix a leaking gutter seam. It bonded immediately and the leak stopped. Three months later still holding. Incredible product.

5/5

Ordered the box of 24 for a full gutter re-sealing job. Much better than the silicone caulk we used previously. No cracking after the first winter.

Professional gutter contractor here. This is the only sealant I trust for wet-apply situations. GutterAll had the best price on the 24-count box.
